Reblogging Julia

A critical analysis of the public ramblings of the creature formerly known as Ms. Baugher, who provides a manic amount of content to parse.

Every little thing she does is tragic.

It isn't wrong if you do it for money.

God. I feel sort of mean, saying that. I really do. I don’t know. I’m of the “live and let live” school of thought, but I have to think about Britney, it’s part of my job.”“

I would link to the post, but alas, this particular nugget of commentary has now been edited and removed. Our Lady of Introspection had this thought immediately after she applauded herself on posting that clever bon mot:

I just watched my TIVO’d appearance on CNN Headline News’ Showbiz Tonight from last Wednesday … here’s a screenshot.  In this particular soundbite I said, “Britney’s tried convenience store therapy, Starbucks therapy, retail therapy.  Why doesn’t she try actual therapy?  REAL THERAPY?  With a THERAPIST?””

Do you see what she did there?  She opined on the state of Spears’ mental health, despite having no personal knowledge of it, but she made a funny!  Kind of??!??!?  She forgot THE RAPIST joke.  Of course, seasoned readers know that she will opine and divulge opinions on another person’s mental health when she does claim to have some semblance of personal knowledge, so the absence of first hand information is probably irrelevant.

The takeaway message here is that her negative remarks are excusable because she is paid to do it, and she can therefore claim a moral high ground from ASSHOLES who criticize her.  She is certainly no Denton-slaved Gawker columnist paid to write pithy text sound bites about professed media whores.  Way above that.  She works for Star Magazine, for Christ’s sake, and on cable news television.  Not even in the same league, let alone ballpark, as Gawker.  Those folks are fucking vicious and mean and heartless, and in any event, not paid nearly as well.  TOTALLY DIFFERENT.  !!???!!!???   She wants you to have a lovely day!!!!!!!!

Okay, enough. Being judgmental when someone’s (clearly) having a tough time leaves an icky taste in my mouth.”

And yet…..

In her defense, the man is dead and she is a professional negative gossip for a supermarket tabloid.  I’m sure his family will greatly appreciate her insights.

“I wouldn’t mind a therapist myself.  In fact, I think pretty much everyone should be in therapy.  By that I mean, we could all use a little nonjudgmental help with our problems.”

Nonjudgmental help probably appeals to a gossip for hire, but I always assumed that people went to therapists for their professional judgment.   I’m not a professional gossip, just an ASSHOLE, but maybe there is someone besides Brit Brit who could benefit from that judgmental kind of therapy.

Incidentally, it would appear that one need only wait a few minutes between lamenting the premature death of a respected actor and posting promotional videos of yourself.   That wouldn’t make you appear bipolar or anything.
